GRAYSON COUNTY, TEXAS — A man was accidentally shot this afternoon by a stray bullet from a concealed handgun license class.

Lt. Rickey Wheeler with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says students in a CHL class were shooting into a field at the Whitesboro rodeo grounds when a bullet struck a man who was fishing at a pond nearby.

The fisherman was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

The students say they couldn’t see anyone in the direction they were shooting.

The sheriff’s office will be investigating the class’s instructor, who they say is not licensed to teach CHL classes.
